$250 Novice Horse and/or $250 Novice Rider

Sidepot Rules

$250 Novice Horse:  Horse, any age, has not had earnings (anywhere) in barrel racing totaling more than $250.

$250 Novice Rider:  Rider has not had earnings (anywhere) in barrel racing totaling more than $250.

These “sidepots” are NOT additional classes. You merely pay the extra entry fee – which goes into an additional payout – called a sidepot, which has the above defined barrel racing earnings restrictions. This gives you additional chances to win money with your single time in the Open.

·              You will enter the “sidepot” at the same time you enter the Open in the regular jackpot. The entry fee for the Open is $21 and the entry fee for either sidepot is $21. It is REQUIRED to enter the Open or the Youth with carryover to the Open.

·              You will make your run in the Youth (with carryover to the Open) or in the Open – just like usual. If you place in the Open – that jackpot, money, and points will be awarded as usual, no connection to the sidepots.

·              Completely separate from the Open, all the sidepot entries will be separated into their respective group ($250 Novice Horse or $250 Novice Rider). Then each sidepot will be divided into a 2D, full second split format. The 1D will be determined by the fastest time run by a contestant paid up in the respective sidepot.

·              Sidepots are open to members or non-members, meeting the earnings restrictions.

·              If you join SBRA and nominate in the Open, then you can “nominate” in the sidepot for which you are eligible and earn points for yearend awards. You will be able to remain in the respective sidepot throughout the entire current year – even if you exceed the earnings restriction. Non-members and/or non-nominated SBRA members must meet eligibility restrictions at EACH jackpot.

·              Nomination fee:  $25/sidepot/nomination.

·              Work and participation requirements for the Open must be met.  See 2008 SBRA Rules.

·              Awards will be determined by the Board of Directors, depending on number of nominees and sponsorship.
